Coaching is a powerful way of bringing the best out of individuals

Coaching is a confidential, collaborative engagement which is tailored to the individual being coached. It is not about learning, more a process of guided self-reflection. The most effective coaches will understand the context within which the “coachee” operates and can therefore empathise with the individual. At DJJ, we have broad experience of operating in and subsequently coaching in a diverse variety of sectors and organisations, meaning we understand where you come from and where you want to get to.

Through the use of active listening and targeted questions the coach will be a guide to identifying and crystallizing goals, discussing and reviewing possible approaches, and eventually commiting to specific actions to achieve those goals. A coach does not advise, recommend or usually even give direct answers. But many coaching clients report that having a confidential environment in which they can bounce ideas off another person, to be a highly effective way of making important decisions.

In an ongoing coaching relationship, the coach then acts as an accountability partner, in the spirit of collaboration and cooperation. This means following-up on the commitments made, discussion around the consequences, and possibly realignment of goals and actions to ensure progress is made. It is worth noting that in this context, online coaching is at least as effective as coaching in real life, in-person.

Coaching is normally arranged in one-hour sessions, online or in-person, and a series of sessions can be arranged, with any interval between sessions that you need.
